Hunters Survey

One of the major goals of the Waterfowl Association of Iowa is to help Iowa waterfowlers understand the DNR and to help the DNR understand what the Iowa waterfowler wants.
Guy Zenner, the State waterfowl biologist says, “Bottom line is that we don't know what the average waterfowler really wants for season dates in Iowa. And, we won't find out without conducting a well-designed large-scale survey of Iowa HIP registrants.” .
Unfortunately the DNR budget just doesn’t have money to spare for these types of surveys.
The best way to effect changes is to prove that, the majority of waterfowlers want it. This is the first step in getting real changes accomplished. So the association has committed to a Hunters Survey. This will be a large random sample (from HIP registrants) survey asking questions about many of the issues commonly discussed by Iowa  waterfowlers, from season dates to spinning wing decoys. WAI has been asking waterfowlers what questions they would like to see on the survey and will continue to do so until sufficient funding has been secured to finalize the survey.
WAI has made a commitment to doing a large random sample hunter survey. That is exactly the kind of data the DNR wants and  needs to base management decisions on.
How can you help?
